It's hard not to brag about our wonderful area. From the perfect weather, to the perfect location, to the perfect combination of town and country, the Prescott area is simply perfect. (All right, maybe I'm using the word "perfect" a little too freely, but honestly, the Prescott area is pretty hard to beat.)
Spring in Prescott
The Weather
If you enjoy the change of seasons, you'll love the weather here. Prescott has four distinct seasons, with extended Spring and Fall weather where the daytime highs remain in the 60's for several months. Temperatures in the summer may occasionally reach the low to mid 90's, and in the winter, temperatures falling below 20° are a rarity. (Now, I ask you, is that not pretty close to perfect weather?)
Sharlott Hall Museum
The Ambiance
Most people will tell you that Prescott's ambiance is one of the things they enjoy most about the city. The charming downtown invites a person to stroll past historic buildings that house enchanting antique shops, one-of-a kind boutiques, and unique eateries. A number of superb art galleries and several intriguing museums are just a few of the places you'll want to explore when visiting Prescott.
Pines and boulders in Prescott
The Location
Nestled between the Bradshaw and Mingus mountains, at an elevation of 5,000 ft., Prescott offers a beautiful and varied topography. From the rolling hills and valleys of Dewey and Prescott Valley to the boulders and tall pines of Prescott to the grassland and junipers of Chino Valley, whatever kind of setting "sings" to you, you'll find it in the Tri-City area.
Sedona
However, should you find your wonderlust calling, simply drive an hour to 1-1/2 hours in any direction, and you can satisfy your desire for whatever change of scenery and climate you'd like.
One hour north of Prescott is Sedona with its spectacular red rocks. Be sure to take your camera and your walking shoes. If you can pull yourself away from the breath-taking scenery for a little while, take a stroll through the many art galleries and boutiques the town has to offer.
Flagstaff Depot
From Sedona, continue north on Hwy 89A through the picturesque Oak Creek Canyon and climb the Mogollon rim to the mountain town of Flagstaff. There, at 7000-ft elevation, the summer temperatures stay in the 70's or low 80's. In the winter, swish down the slopes of Snow Bowl and enjoy the atmosphere of old-town Flagstaff. If you'd like to venture another hour northwest, you'll find yourself peering over the edge of the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon.
Phoenix Shopping District
Now back through Prescott, let's head 90 miles south to Phoenix, one of the six largest cities in the U.S. Shopping, shopping, and more shopping. (That was stated from a woman's point of view.) Golf, golf, golf. (There guys, I didn't leave you out.)
StoneRidge Golf Course
Year-Round Activities
But, if you decide to stay closer to home, you won't be disappointed. With golf courses designed by golf legends such as Tom Weiskopf and Hale Irwin, Prescott courses are sure to challenge even the most experienced golfer. You'll also enjoy a variety of concerts and plays at Yavapai College Performance Hall. And May through September, you can count on assorted festivals, art exhibits, craft fairs and free concerts at Courthouse Square. Yes, the year-round activities that Prescott has to offer will keep your calendar full and your out-of-town friends coming in for extended visits. (That's a good thing ... isn't it?)
